Disney remake of the 1994 animated classic “The Lion King“. The animals of Africa are overjoyed when the lion cub Simba (voiced by JD McCrary in the original) is born, the future king of the savannah. As the son of Mufasa (James Earl Jones), the rightful throne belongs to him. But Mufasa’s brother Scar (Chiwetel Ejiofor) stakes his claim and treacherously steals it, whereupon Simba is banished into exile and has to leave his girlfriend Nala (Beyoncé Knowles-Carter). However, Simba finds new friends and companions in the lively meerkat Timon (Billy Eichner) and the fun-loving warthog Pumbaa (Seth Rogen), who help him to grow up carefree despite the difficult times. But his past won’t let him go and as a young lion man, Simba (now voiced by Donald Glover) realizes that he must return to the steppe and take up the fight with Scar to reclaim his rightful place on the throne.
