With Ghostbusters Legacy, the classic returns in a new guise: struggling with financial difficulties, single mother Callie (Carrie Coon) moves with her children Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) and Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) to her deceased father’s run-down estate in a small backwater in Oklahoma. Trevor, who is totally annoyed at first, tries to make contact with the teenagers in the country as quickly as possible, while 12-year-old Phoebe rummages through her grandfather’s old belongings and makes the exciting discovery of some strange utensils. These weapons and gadgets suggest, as her teacher Mr. Grooberson (Paul Rudd) suspects, that her grandpa was once a member of the legendary but largely forgotten “Ghostbusters”.
As Trevor and Phoebe begin to try out the old technique together with some new classmates, a mystical threat brews beneath the sleepy small town. As strange phenomena pile up and paranormal activity increases, the siblings must use their newfound abilities and their grandfather’s legacy to save the town from supernatural disaster. With courage, determination and a touch of humor, they face the danger and prove that a new generation of ghost hunters has what it takes to save the world.
